She was born Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor on February 27, 1932 in London, England. Her parents were Francis and Sara Taylor, Americans living in England and later returning to the United States when war came to England. They settled in southern California where Elizabeth at the age of 10 was discovered. The rest is film history.She has made many great films including "Giant", "Raintree County", "A Place In The Sun", "Little Women", "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof", "Rhapsody", "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?", "Elephant Walk". She has received the Academy Award for Best Actress twice. She received a third Academy Award for her humanitarian efforts on behalf of the fight against AIDS. She was presented the American Film Institute Award for lifetime achievement in 1993. Her other awards are too numerous to mention but she has many from around the world. |
